01 // The Houston climate problem
Houston sits at the intersection of three storm cycles that no other major US city carries simultaneously. Spring hail rolls down from the Texas hail alley between February and May, producing 1 to 3 inch stones across Harris County roughly 10 to 14 times per year. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with named-storm wind events arriving up the Gulf Coast every 18 months on average. Fall and winter add cold-front gust events that finish off any roof the summer left tired.
